During her time as a Washington County Commissioner, Diana Irey has been a tireless proponent of the values and principles we hold dear. As the first woman to ever be elected Commissioner in Washington County, Diana is comfortable being the bearer of new ideas and solutions that reflect a fresh perspective.

Here are just a few of Diana's accomplishments as a Washington County Commissioner

* Diana has pushed through seven consecutive balanced budgets without a tax increase for Washington County residents.

* Diana determination to keep taxes low ensured that Washington County maintains the 2nd lowest tax rate in the region.

* Diana worked hard to ensure that Washington County maintains the 2nd greatest job creation rate in the region.

* Diana was instrumental in the establishment of the Southpointe Development, which led to the creation of more than 5,000 jobs in Washington County and surrounding areas, generating more than $4.4 million per year in new tax revenues.

* Diana secured the land for the expansion of Southpointe, with expected new taxes generated upon completion of $3.5 million per year, and creating an estimated 3,800 new jobs.

* Diana secured the land for the Starpointe Industrial Park -- 1,153 acres, with an expected 12,000 new jobs to be generated upon buildout.

* Diana helped create the Washington County Economic Development Partnership -- a one-stop shop for job development to make it easier and more attractive for business owners and employers to locate in Washington County.

* Diana helped develop the California Technology Park, with an estimated 800 new jobs created upon buildout.

* Diana commissioned the Washington County Economic Development Strategic Plan in 1999.

* Diana commissioned the Washington County Comprehensive Plan in 2005, and updated it in 2007 to include the Washington County Greenways Plan.

*Diana helped make numerous improvements to the Washington County Airport.

* Diana develped the FITS program to require prison inmates to work without pay in the community to provide restitution for their crimes -- yielding 80,000 hours of public service by inmates -- and she voted against giving cable TV to prison inmates.

* Diana directed the development of four new senior housing developments.

* Diana brought prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance to public meetings.

* To more effectively deal with troubled youth, Diana supported a program which takes probation officers into the schools.

* Diana started the WELL Program for Washington County employees to promote healthy lifestyles for employees -- which will also reduce sick time and which will help reduce insurance rates and costs for the County.

* Diana made numerous improvements to the County's Parks and Recreation programs.
